List of companies where to rent a bicycle in Minorca

In this list we present a selection of companies where you can rent bikes on the island of Menorca.

Table of Contents

General Information

Menorca is a perfect place to enjoy your biking holidays. You can rent a bike for one day or for several. The price of renting a bike varies depending on the number of days you rent it. Obviously, the price of renting a bike in Menorca will also depend on other factors such as:

  • The type and model of the bicycle:
    • Conventional bicycles
    • Road bikes
    • City bikes
    • Mountain bikes
    • Electric bikes
    • Bicycles for children
  • The age of the bicycle
  • The brand of the bicycle (prestige and quality of the parts)
  • Possible discount for groups
  • Possible low season discount
  • Kilometers away from the bike rental company*

*Many companies that rent bicycles to tourists who want to enjoy their holidays on this Balearic island can transport the bicycles to their hotel or place of residence.

In this sense, the cost of transporting bicycles to your place of residence depends on the distance between the company and your place of accommodation.

Bike rental for school groups, for families with children, and also competition bike rental for sports associations.

Above you have a list of companies that rent bicycles in Menorca. A good tip is to choose the one that is geographically closest to your hotel to save on transportation costs

The best inland routes for cycling

The map whose link you find below has been prepared by a public island body that aims to promote active tourism in Menorca.

In this interactive map on inland cycle tourism in Menorca you will find 21 routes proposed by this organization.

These cycling routes in Menorca offer a wide variety of bicycle circuits that visit different places of interest and special natural beauty on the island.

These routes combine sections of the main road of Menorca, secondary roads, dirt roads and paths for hikers.

Camí de Cavalls de Menorca by bike

The Camí de Cavalls is along hiking trail that goes arround the island of Menorca, generally along the coast.

The Camí de Cavalls can be done on a mountain bike with more or less difficulty.

It is important to point out that in the 185 kilometers of the Camí de Cavalls there are sections that cannot be covered even by mountain bike. Other sections, on the other hand, are highway or urban areas.

Routes of the Camí de Cavalls that I recommend to do by bike due to its beauty (medium difficulty)

Camí de Cavalls route NOT recommended for cycling

Go cycling on the roads of Menorca

Menorca is a relatively flat island. The north is slightly mountainous, meaning it has more hills, and the south tends to be fairly flat.

In the south we find the ravines, which represent a sudden descent, but this is not usually an inconvenience.

At the level of cycle tourism, the bike paths in Menorca could be divided into 5 large groups:

  • The main road
  • The secondary roads
  • Rural roads and dirt roads
  • Camí de Cavalls
  • Towns and cities

Menorca’s main road (Me-1) is a road that crosses the island from East to West and concentrates most of the island’s traffic. It usually has wide shoulders and the maximum speed cannot exceed 90km/h (for cars ;)

Secondary roads are, in my opinion, the most dangerous for cyclists, since in many cases they do not have a hard shoulder or the hard shoulder is very narrow, there are many curves, and because of trees and bushes, there is not good visibility on those curves.

Because these secondary roads are relatively wide, it is common for drivers to get overconfident and drive faster than they should.

Rural roads include old dirt or paved roads. On these roads the number of vehicles is less. The speed of the vehicles is also usually lower, since they are quite narrow and the state of some of the roads does not allow drivers to drive very fast.

This category of rural roads also includes roads not suitable for vehicles. Inland roads that are more paths for hikers than roads.

Lastly, we have the Camí de Cavalls, a trail created by riders from other times, resurrected for hikers but, in general terms, suitable for excursions with mountain bikes.

If you want to rent a mountain bike to go around Menorca by bicycle, we recommend that you inform yourself well about the difficulties of each section.
