Visit traditional winery in Menorca

This is a visit to a small vineyard plantation and its winery in the countryside of Menorca.

A few kilometers from the town of Mercadal, Crispín Mariano Vadell is a Menorcan master wine-grower who understands the production of artisanal wine as a form of artistic expression.

Although the methods of wine production in this small winery are completely sustainable and traditional, this pioneer of the Minorcan vintage refers to the wine from its cellars as a tribute, and at the same time a reflection, of the traditional culture of Menorca, with its festivities and its legends.

So much so, that Crispín decided to name his star wine: Ferrer de Muntpalau , a character from Catalan popular culture.

Tasting the first Menorcan wine

When you visit this winery, the cellar master will accompany you on a small tour through his vineyards. Topics such as the day to day of wine production on the island, the history of the wine of Menorca, as well as secrets and anecdotes of its craft activity, are part of this exclusive visit.

Thereupon you can see the cellar, with its state-of-the-art equipment, its drums, bottles and its paintings full of history.

This visit to the first winery in Menorca, ends with a tasting of a variety of wines under a porch in front of the extensive crop field arround Monte Toro.

Crispín’s passion for this art led him to promote the geographical distinction: Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca , one of his bottles being the first to be labeled with this official distinction.

The prices of the bottles of this artisanal wine range between €10 and €15 per unit.
